General Skating

  • Q: Where can I purchase tickets?

    A: Tickets can be purchased in advance on the website (mobile only) or at the on-site ticket vending machines.

  • Q: Can I buy tickets on the day?

    A: Yes, tickets can be purchased at the ticket vending machines.

  • Q: If I purchase a skating ticket, can I skate?

    A: If you do not have your own skates, please purchase a ticket that includes skate rental.

  • Q: Where can I buy a season pass?

    A: Please purchase a season pass at the front desk.

  • Q: Is there an age restriction?

    A: There are no specific age restrictions. Rental skates are available for shoe sizes 15 cm and above.

  • Q: Do accompanying spectators (only for observation visits) need a ticket if they do not skate?

    A: Yes, they do. Accompanying spectators should purchase an observation ticket (500 yen).
    Preschool children are exempted, but elementary school students and older will require an observation ticket.

  • Q: Is there anything I need to bring?

    A: Please bring gloves if you have them. (Gloves are also available for purchase at the skate rental counter for 300 yen.)
    Gloves are necessary not only for warmth but also to prevent injuries in case of falls.

  • Q: What sizes are available for the skates?

    A: We provide figure skates ranging from 15 cm to 31 cm and hockey skates from 19 cm to 31 cm.
    Unless otherwise specified, figure skates will be provided for rental.

  • Q: Can I make a reservation for the skates?

    A: Reservations cannot be made.

  • Q: Do you have skates with double blades?

    A: No, all sizes come with single blades.

  • Q: Can I rent a helmet?

    A: Yes, helmets are available for rent. If you have a bicycle helmet that fits, we recommended that you bring it, as the sizes of helmets available for rent may not be suitable for some children.

  • Q: Are elbow and knee pads available for rent?

    A: No, we do not provide elbow and knee pads for rent. You are welcome to bring your own.

  • Q: Can I wear protective gear meant for ice hockey?

    A: Please refrain from wearing ice hockey protective gear.

  • Q: Can I wear speed skates?

    A: We kindly ask you to refrain from wearing speed skates; only figure and hockey skates are accepted.

  • Q: Are gloves and socks available for rent or purchase?

    A: We do not provide rentals of these items. Gloves are available for purchase at the skate rental counter for 300 yen, and socks for 500 yen.

  • Q: Can I exchange the skates for a different size?

    A: Size exchanges are possible, but exchanging for a different type of skate will incur an exchange fee of 200 yen.

  • Q: Is it cold?

    A: During the summer, it is around 10-14 °C, and during the winter, it is around 5-8 °C.

  • Q: What should I wear?

    A: Please come dressed in attire suitable for skating. Gloves are mandatory for safety purposes.

  • Q: What should I wear (in summer)?

    A: You don’t need thick clothing like a down coat. We recommend that you wear clothing that is easy to remove, as you may feel warm when moving. *If you are only observing from the rinkside, it can be cold, so please bring warm outerwear.

  • Q: Are there changing rooms?

    A: Yes, changing rooms are available.

  • Q: Are there coin lockers?

    A: There are coin lockers available near the rinkside, with prices ranging from 100 yen to 300 yen.

  • Q: Are there any scheduled days off?

    A: No, we are open year-round without scheduled days off. However, there may be temporary closures for events or other reasons, which will be announced on our website.

  • Q: What are the ice resurfacing times?

    ・A: ・Weekdays: 14:30, 16:15
    ・Weekends: 12:00, 14:00, 16:00
    ・Holidays: 12:00, 14:30, 16:15
    *Approximately 15 minutes each time. Please note that these times may vary on specific days.

  • Q: During which periods is the rink especially busy?

    A: It is usually not crowded from after Golden Week in May until mid-November. However, it can get crowded from mid-November and on weekends.
    *Please note that this may vary depending on events or other factors.

  • Q: Can we eat and drink inside the facility?

    A: Yes, you can. Please bring your own food.

  • Q: Can we practice jumps and spins?

    A: We kindly ask those without a dedicated instructor to refrain from practicing jumps and spins. Please note that this is to prevent accidents.

  • Q: Can we take photos?

    A: Taking photos and videos inside the rink and rinkside area is not allowed.

  • Q: If we get injured, are we able to receive treatment?

    A: Our staff can provide basic first aid treatment in the first aid room. However, please note that we cannot assume responsibility for any subsequent issues.

Access & Parking

  • Q: Is there parking available?

    A: There is a parking area located next to the building. However, please note that the number of available parking spaces is limited to 9, so we encourage you to use public transportation whenever possible.

  • Q: Are there any parking discounts available?

    A: No, there are no parking discounts available.

  • Q: Are there any affiliated parking lots other than the skating rink parking lot?

    A: No, there are no affiliated parking lots available.

  • Q: Where is the nearest station?

    A: The rink is a 5-minute walk from JR Sobu Line Sendagaya Station.
    It is also only a 1-minute walk from Toei Oedo Line Kokuritsu-kyogijo Station.

School

  • Q: How can I join the school?

    A: Please carefully review the information on the regular class introduction page and submit a waiting list application.
    For the 3-year-old class, you cannot apply online, so please submit the waiting list application form directly at the front desk. (Applications for 3-year-olds can be made once the child reaches the age of 3. We do not accept applications for 2-year-olds.)

  • Q: How much is the enrollment fee?

    A: The enrollment fee is 11,000 yen.

  • Q: How long will it take for my turn to come up on the waiting list?

    A: It depends on the number of people on the waiting list at that time. There are cases where we can attend to you immediately depending on the season.
    However, for adult classes on weekends, the waiting time can be up to a year, so we recommend considering private lessons.

  • Q: I’m a complete beginner. Is that okay?

    A: Yes, of course. Many people start as beginners.

  • Q: What do I need to bring?

    A:・Five-fingered gloves (gloves that are easy to move in; ski gloves are not accepted)
    ・Long-sleeved top and long pants (clothes that are easy to move in)
    ・Long socks
    ・Helmet (bicycle helmet is acceptable)
    *Please wear a helmet for safety in the beginning.

  • Q: What should I wear?

    A: Please wear long-sleeved tops and long pants that allow for easy movement. Wear clothing that can be easily adjusted or removed, as your body will warm up during skating.

  • Q: Do I need to buy skating shoes?

    A: In the beginning, please use rental skating shoes. We provide them free of charge to students. The instructor will discuss purchasing options as you progress in your lessons.

  • Q: Are trial lessons available?

    A: We do not offer trial lessons for our regular classes. Please make use of the trial classes we occasionally hold.
    *Please note that to ensure the safety and progress of other participants, we do not accept beginners or individuals unfamiliar with our classes midway through a course.

  • Q: How long does it take to graduate?

    A: The time required varies for each individual. Once you have achieved a certain level of proficiency, we recommend practicing alone before and after lessons.
    *Please exercise caution to prevent injuries.

  • Q: I want to change my class. What should I do?

    A: Please submit a request through your My Page between the 1st of even-numbered months and the 7th of the following odd-numbered month.
    If it is possible to change, please check the “Enrollment Information” section on the School page of your My Page after the 8th of the odd-numbered month. If it is not possible to change, we will contact you by phone.
    *Class changes cannot be made during the middle of a course.

  • Q: When will I know the result of my class change request?

    A: We will notify you within one week from the 7th of the month. If it is possible to change, a new class will be added to the “Enrollment Information” section on the School page of your My Page.

  • Q: Currently, my child is in the preschool class (senior class), but I want to switch to the Junior basic class starting in April. What is the procedure?

    A: Please submit your request for class change through your My Page between February 1st and March 7th.
    *Preschool classes are available until the first year of elementary school. Please request a class change before advancing to the second grade.

  • Q: I submitted a request for class change, but I made a mistake in the submission. Can I still make changes?

    A: Please contact us and we will assist you in making the change.

  • Q: What is the deadline for submitting a withdrawal notice?

    A: Please submit the withdrawal notice at the front desk between the 1st of even-numbered months and the 7th of the following odd-numbered month.
    If you submit it after the deadline, a cancellation fee will be charged.
    Cancellation fee 7th to 21st of the month: 1,650 yen / 22nd to 31st of the month: 3,300 yen
    *Withdrawal during the course period is not possible.

  • Q: When is the school closed?

    A: The school is closed only from December 29th to January 3rd every year. There are regular lessons on all other days.

  • Q: Are there lessons on public holidays?

    A: Lessons are held as usual on public holidays.

  • Q: Is it possible to make up for missed lessons?

    A: Unfortunately such a system is not available.

  • Q: Is it necessary to inform the school of absences?

    A: There is no need to inform about any absence.

  • Q: Can I take two classes?

    A: This is possible only if there are available slots in the classes without a waiting list. Please inquire if you are interested.

  • Q: When is the level check held?

    A: It takes place in the fourth week of even-numbered months.

  • Q: I have lost my school notebook. What should I do?

    A: Replacement school notebooks are available at the front desk for 220 yen. However, please note that while we can determine your current level, we won’t have the detailed information about the specific items you have passed. The instructor will make a judgment during the level check.

  • Q: Can I take a leave of absence?

    A: We do not have a leave of absence system. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Q: I want to continue taking lessons after graduation. What should I do?

    A: Please consider taking private lessons. For more details, please refer to this link.

Private lessons

  • Q: Can I take lessons even if I’m a complete beginner?

    A: Yes, we welcome beginners to take lessons.

  • Q: Can siblings or friends take private lessons together?

    A: If they are close in age and at the same level, up to three people can take private lessons together. However, private lessons are not available with instructors Tsuchiya, Yaginuma, and Sato.

  • Q: Can I take only private lessons without enrolling in the school program?

    A: Yes, that is possible.

  • Q: I want to take private lessons every week. What should I do?

    A: Please engage a dedicated instructor. For more details, please refer to this link.

  • Q: Are there instructors who can speak English?

  • Q: When can I start applying online for private lessons?

    A: Applications start from the 27th of the previous month at 10:00. Additional reservation slots may be added by instructors as needed after the reservation period begins.

  • Q: How can I apply?

    A: Please register as a lesson member at the front desk.
    Members who belong to the club or school program do not need to register as lesson members. However, if you cancel your membership, you will have to register as a lesson member again.

  • Q: Can I cancel or change a reservation?

    A: No, cancellations and changes are not allowed. Please double-check the date and time when making your reservation.

  • Q: Can I switch from a private lesson to a group lesson after making a reservation?

    A: Please contact us by phone. However, note that changes are not allowed for group lessons conducted by Tsuchiya, Yaginuma, and Sato.

  • Q: Which payment methods are available?

    A: All payments are to be made by credit card. Please register your credit card information before making a reservation, and the payment will be processed upon completion of the reservation.

  • Q: What should I do on the day of the lesson?

    A: Purchase the necessary tickets (ice skating pass, rental skate pass, accompanying pass, etc.) and enter with the ice skating pass.
    Please wait near the entrance to the heating room, wearing your skates. The instructor will come to meet you.
    *For reservations of private lessons made online, the lesson fee is charged at the time of reservation, so you do not need to purchase a lesson ticket on the day of the lesson.

  • Q: What does “dedicated instructor” mean?

    A: A dedicated instructor is one who is assigned to individuals taking lessons. If you aspire to become a figure skater, you will generally receive lessons from one main instructor.

  • Q: How are the lesson schedules determined?

    A: Please consult with the instructor.

  • Q: How can I find a dedicated instructor?

    A: If you have a specific instructor in mind, please consult with them directly at the rinkside or during the web reservation process for private lessons.

Club

  • Q: What is a club?

    A: It is a figure skating club affiliated with the Japan Skating Federation. Competitors who participate in competitions are required to be a member of a club. At our skating rink, the Meiji Jingu Gaien Figure Skating Club is under our management.

  • Q: Can anyone join the club?

    A: To join the club, you have to hold a certificate of Japan Skating Federation badge test of at least beginner level and have a dedicated instructor.

  • Q: How can I join?

    A: We only accept membership requests from dedicated instructors. If you wish to join, please contact your dedicated instructor.

  • Q: Can I join immediately?

    A: It depends on the class. If the class is at maximum capacity, you will be put on a waiting list and we will contact you as soon as a spot becomes available.

  • Q: What do you do in a club?

    A: The rink is rented exclusively for each class, during which the members of the class receive private lessons.

  • Q: Can I take lessons similar to a school lesson?

    A: No, all lessons are private lessons.

  • Q: I am not aspiring to be a competitor, but I want to practice skating. Can I join the club?

    A: If you meet the membership requirements, you can join. We have a course for athlete development and a general course for skating enthusiasts.

  • Q: What is synchronized skating?

    A: Synchronized skating is a form of figure skating that involves synchronized team performances on ice. A team consists of 16 members. Our club’s synchronized team, the Meiji Jingu Ice Messengers, is a strengthened team under the Japan Skating Federation.

Rental ice rink

  • Q: How can I make a reservation?

    A: All reservations can be made through your My Page. Please register as a rink member in advance.

  • Q: How can I register as a rink member?

    A: Please come to the front desk during reception hours and fill out the required form to receive your My Page ID and initial password.

  • Q: Can I register as a rink member without visiting in person?

    A: No, please come in person.

  • Q: When can I start making reservations?

    A: Reservations are accepted two months in advance on the same day as the rental date. On your My Page, reservations are accepted starting from midnight when the date changes.
    If there is no same date two months before the desired reservation date, reservations will start from the 1st of the following month.
    Example 1: Reservation for August 31st → Reservations start from July 1st.
    Example 2: April 29th, 30th, and 31st → Reservations start from March 1st.

  • Q: Can I make a tentative reservation?

    A: No, we do not accept tentative reservations.

  • Q: Can I cancel my reservation?

    A: We do not accept any cancellations or changes. Please make sure that you confirm the date and time before making a reservation.

  • Q: Which payment methods are available?

    A: Please make the payment within one week from the reservation date either through bank transfer or in cash at the front desk.

  • Q: I would like to receive a receipt.

    A: Once the payment is confirmed at the skating rink, you can issue a receipt on your My Page.
    Please save or print it. Note that once you close the page, it will not be possible to reissue the receipt.

  • Q: I want to change the recipient’s name on the receipt.

    A: Please print the receipt issued on your My Page and bring it with you.
    We will provide you with a new receipt after making the necessary changes.

  • Q: How can I book the ice rink for a group reservation?

    A: For group reservations, please contact us six months in advance of the desired date, as scheduling adjustments may be required.
    Please take note that every year during the winter season, we receive numerous group reservations, and it may not always be possible to book on your preferred date.

  • Q: I’m unable to make a reservation.

    A: If the usage date has passed and the payment has not been confirmed, you will not be able to make a new reservation.
    Please check the payment status.

Contract lockers

  • Q: Can I leave my belongings in the locker and come back later?

    A: Please use the monthly contract lockers.

  • Q: How much is the contract locker?

    A: S size (H40×W26×D36) – 1,100 yen, M size (H53×W26×D36) – 1,650 yen, L size (H83×W29×D50) – 2,200 yen.

  • Q: Can I check the locker location before renting it?

    A: You can confirm the location at the time of application.

  • Q: Can I rent a locker for just one month?

    A: Contracts are available from a minimum of two months.

  • Q: Which payment methods are available?

    A: Please pay the first two months in cash at the time of application. Subsequent payments will be made through bank transfer.

  • Q: Can I use the locker immediately after signing the contract?

    A: Yes, you can use it right away.

  • Q: When should I give notification if I want to cancel the contract?

    A: The deadline for cancellation is the 5th of each month. If you submit a cancellation notice to the front desk by the 5th, the cancellation will be effective at the end of that month. If the 5th has passed, the cancellation will be effective at the end of the following month.

My Page

  • Q: I would like to be notified when new announcements are added.

    A: Please follow the steps below to set up notifications:
    Go to “Personal Settings” in My Page → Select “Email Delivery Settings” → Check the checkbox for receiving notifications of new announcements → Click “OK”
    With this setting, you will receive an email with the latest announcements at your registered email address.
    *Please configure the settings to view the latest announcements.

  • Q: I forgot my password.

    A: Please use the “Forgot Password” option on the My Page login screen to reset it.

  • Q: I forgot my membership number.

    A: Please contact the skating rink for assistance.

Other

  • Q: (From the media) I would like to use the skating rink for filming.

    A: Filming, both for still photography and movies, can only be done if the rink is rented exclusively. If there is availability and the content is approved, you will need to pay a separate fee for filming.Please contact us for further details.

  • Q: I want to make my child a figure skater. What should I do?

    A: We recommend starting by enrolling your child in skating school and gradually taking private lessons in parallel.
    It’s important to follow your child’s motivation and consult with the instructor.
    *Please note that if the skating school has a long waiting list, you can also begin with private lessons.
    *Private lessons are available for children aged 4 and above.

  • Q: Can I do curling?

    A: Our skating rink does not offer curling. Please visit the Tokyo Curling Club’s website for more information.
